Can't live without music!

Recently, I realized music is in my everyday life. I almost spend all my spare time to listen to music. I turn on my iPod, when I bike. I open my music files before I start to surf the web. Music seems important for me. I still remember the time that I spent on airplane without music. I felt so bad and missed my music. If I could listen to my music on the airplane, I could just sit there and do nothing for all day long. After I found there was a music channel on the airplane, I finally felt released and thought this trip was better than I expect.

Even if I do not know any concept of music, I like music just because it is a spiritual mentor for me. Different songs give me difference feeling. I felt sad, when I listen to some romantic love songs. I felt hyper, when I listen to songs with sprightly rhythm. Even though there are many assignments and quizzes, I will not stress out as long as there is music accompany with me. If I felt down, I would listen to those happy songs and try to make myself happy again. Music is not only a mental medicine for me, but also memory. Different songs are popular at different times. When I listen to some old songs, it recalls my memories. I can remember what I experienced and what I thought, when one song was popular at that time. I remembered that when I was still a freshman, my roommates and I loved the song “I’m yours” so much. Sometimes, we would sing that song together at our room. It was a happy memory and that song also recalled my other memories which were related to my roommates. That is why I like music so much and cannot live without it.

Earthquake!

One of my friends told me that the next big earthquake in California is going to be in next 30 years. She suggested me it is better to not stay in California at that time. I was said to hear that. Earthquake is nature disaster. We do not know how to prevent nature disasters. The only thing we can do is just to predict when they will come and avoid the damage. Sometimes, we cannot even predict when it will come. It just strikes suddenly. The last big earthquake was happened in1989. Many housed was destroyed and many people lost their lives in the 1989 San Francisco earthquake. I have experienced a small earthquake when I was in high school. That earthquake just lasted for a few seconds. Suddenly, I felt my bed was shaking. At that time, I did nothing and just lying on my bed. The earthquake came very soon and also left very soon. After I realized that was an earthquake, it had already passed.

In high school, I learned a lot about how to prepare and what I should do when earthquake comes. However, I was wondering if I can really use that knowledge when earthquake comes. Last earthquake, I did not have any reaction. Sometimes, people may forget what they should do, when they get nervous. I am afraid that if the earthquake came, I would get nervous and couldn’t think. 30 years is a very long time, but time passed by so fast. We should always get prepared and trained. Life is unpredictable and we never what will happen in the next minutes. Therefore, we should appreciate what we have right now.

Breakfast!

I heard someone’s stomach was growling when I was in my math class last week. I was curious about whose stomach was growling, but I didn’t turn around and see because that reminded me my friend’s story. Same thing was happen on my friend, but the difference was one of her classmates laughed at her. My friend felt very embarrassed. At that time, I thought that person might feel embarrassed too and so I would rather not to satisfy my curiosity. It was an early morning. Most people just wake up and then hurry to school. College students don’t eat breakfast is a very common phenomenon in college. In the first quarter of my freshmen year, I would like to save more time to sleep rather than wake up early and go to have breakfast. However, I realized that breakfast is very important and so I started to have breakfast on the next quarter.

Most college students don’t eat breakfast because they want to lose weight. However, I found that didn’t work based on my own experience. People who don’t have breakfast tend to eat more at lunch time because his or her stomach doesn’t have any food for the entire morning and it keeps sending “hungry” signals to the brain. Also, that is not a healthy living style. It is not okay to keep your stomach empty. If you don’t eat breakfast in the morning, you may not have enough energy to work in the morning. That can affect the quality of study and if you have an early class, you will feel difficult to absorb the material in the class. Therefore, having breakfast is only good for you. It is guarantee of your academic study.
